Gravity Forms is a powerful and versatile plugin for the WordPress content management system that lets the site owner create forms quickly and easily. While it is a paid plugin, the price is definitely worth it!
Customizable Forms
Gravity Forms is heavily customizable. In addition to common form fields such as check boxes, radio buttons, and lists, Gravity Forms also has pricing fields, fields that can map to a new post on WordPress (for visitor-submitted posts), and many other specialized fields. Editing new fields is easy, and fields can be dragged into new positions.
There are several layout options from which to choose, including single page vs. multiple pages, and title and label placement has several variations. There is also an HTML field for more content flexibility.
Gravity Forms supports conditional logic so, for example, you can ask customers to pay by check or online, or input sizes if they choose to order a tee shirt for your event. You can make fields appear or disappear depending on the user’s choices.
Prevent Spam Submissions
A nice built-in feature includes an anti-spam honeypot setting, so that you only receive entries from humans, not robots. You may even add an extra layer of security with a CAPTCHA field (an acronym for a “Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart”), which can also prevent automated spammers.
Extensible Forms
There are several paid add-ons for Gravity Forms that allow integrate of additional services, such as Pay-Pal for payments and MailChimp for email lists. A listing of some of the possible Gravity Forms add-ons can be found on the official site for Gravity Forms.
Customizable Notifications
Customization is not only limited to fields on forms, but also how site administrators and site visitors are informed about form submissions. A website administrator can set up notifications to automatically email a particular email address and to email form submitters upon completion of a form. There is no limit to the number of notifications that can be set up. Notifications can contain as little as a salutation and brief message or as much as the entire set of form field values that were submitted – even a link directly to the form submission entry on the administrative side of the website.
Form Entries: Exports & Sharing via Email
Entries can be exported to a spreadsheet and / or re-sent to any email address. This lets the administrator share one or more entries with others without providing access to the administrative area of the website. Entry notifications for a particular form can be re-sent one-at-a-time (individually) or several-at-once (bulk).
